Notheast Greenland National Park


NORTHEAST GREENLAND NATIONAL PARK
Northeast Greenland National Park is the largest national park in the world, with an area of 972,000 km2 making the park larger than 163 countries. Is the only national park in Greenland. It was created the 22 May of 1974. In January 1977 it was designated an international biosphere reserve.

The climate is characterized as high-arctic . The winter is long, very cold and there are frequent storms . The summer is short with a mean temperature of under + 5º Celsius . there is a dark period , when the sun does not rise above the horizon from approximately November 23th to January 17th . The first snow falls in the beginning of September and disappears again the following year in July . There is always snow and ice.It is a cold and dry climate.


FAUNA
The potential food resources of the polonya it is a wintering place for ringed seals and walruses , spring migrations of bears and summer sojourn for narwhales , lesser rorqual , harp seal and hooded seal . Moreover , there is a large concentration of birds in  spring such as little auks,guillemots and other sea birds.

FLORA
 There is not too much flora in this ecosystem,there are only little parts of grass.
